Potassium persulfate
Physical and chemical properties: Potassium persulfate is a white, odorless crystal with a density of 2.477, decomposed at about 100 °C, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, and has strong oxidizing properties. It is used in the manufacture of explosives, bleaching agents, oxidants, and polymerization initiators. It hardly absorbs moisture, has good stability at room temperature, and is easy to store. Easy to use and safe.
Storage: Potassium persulfate is non-flammable, but because it can release oxygen and has a combustible effect, it must be stored in a dry, airtight container, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not come into contact with organic matter, rust, a small amount of metal and other reducing substances to prevent the decomposition and explosion of Potassium persulfate. Due to the bleaching and slight corrosive effects of moist Potassium persulfate powder and its aqueous solution, avoid direct contact with eyes, skin and clothing during use.
Uses:
Polymerization: Initiator of latex or acrylic monomer polymerization solution, acetate ethyl combustion, vinyl chloride and other products, and also an initiator for the copolymerization of styrene acrylonitrile, butadiene and other colloids.
Metal treatment: Treatment of metal surfaces (e.g. in semiconductor manufacturing: cleaning and etching of printed circuits). Activation of copper and aluminum surfaces.
Cosmetics: The main ingredient in bleaching formulas.
Textiles: desizing agents and bleaching agents – especially for low-temperature bleaching.
Other: Chemical Synthesis: Water Treatment (Purification), Disinfectants, Waste Gas Treatment, Oxidative Degradation of Hazardous Substances (e.g. Mercury).
