Physical and chemical properties: Ammonium persulfate is a white single crystal, density 1.98, completely decomposed at 120 °C, can be stored for a long time without decomposition when completely dry, should not absorb moisture, but gradually release oxygen and ozone after moisture absorption. Soluble in water and decomposed by heat. It has strong oxidation and can be used as a chemical reagent, oxidant, bleaching agent, deodorant, and monomer polymerization initiator. It also has the advantages of ease of use, safety, etc.
Storage: Ammonium persulfate is non-flammable, but it must be stored in a dry, airtight container away from direct sunlight and heat sources due to its ability to release oxygen and contribute to combustion. Do not come into contact with organic matter, rust, a small amount of metal and other reducing substances to prevent the decomposition and explosion of Ammonium persulfate. Because the moist Ammonium persulfate powder and its aqueous solution have a bleaching and slightly corrosive effect, avoid direct contact with eyes, skin and clothing during use.
Uses:
Polymerization: Initiator of latex or acrylic monomer polymerization solution, acetate ethyl combustion, vinyl chloride and other products, and also an initiator for the copolymerization of styrene acrylonitrile, butadiene and other colloids.
Metal treatment: Treatment of metal surfaces (e.g. in semiconductor manufacturing: cleaning and etching of printed circuits). Activation of copper and aluminum surfaces.
Cosmetics: The main ingredient in bleaching formulas.
Textiles: desizing agents and bleaching agents – especially for low-temperature bleaching.
Others: Chemical synthesis: water treatment (purification), disinfectants, exhaust gas treatment, oxidative degradation of harmful substances (e.g. mercury), paper (starch modification, special repulping for low temperature bleaching).
